When Should I Choose Hospice Care?

Hospice care is considered when a doctor determines that a patient has a life-limiting illness with a prognosis of six months or less if the disease follows its natural course. What are my options?

How will I pay?
Hospice care is a covered benefit under Medicare for people with a life expectancy of six months or less. Medicare will pay up to 100% of the cost of hospice services. Those with Medicare Advantage plans are covered by original Medicare. Individuals with a private health plan should inquire with their insurance provider for details about hospice coverage and any out-of-pocket expenses.
